FFEN is excited to welcome Jenny Moore as our new Food Shelf Capacity Mobilizer VISTA. Jenny graduated from Green Mountain College in May with a Bachelor of Arts in both Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems, and Animal Conservation & Care with a minor in Environmental Studies. While at Green Mountain, Jenny ran a chapter of the national Food Recovery Network and served as president and volunteer coordinator for two years. They have significant experience working within Vermont’s local food systems and volunteering their time and skills at local farms, commercial kitchens, and workshops revolving around food preservation and food justice.
Last summer, Jenny worked at a Farm & Wilderness camp as their Barns and Gardens Director where they lead a staff of eight in teaching and creating curriculum for 9-14 year olds in topics such as plants, gardens, cooking, food systems, farm animals, food preservation, homesteading, etc. That role connected closely with Jenny’s hobbies as they love to garden, cook, preserve foods, and work with animals. More off topic hobbies include reading graphic novels, playing board games, and baking.
Jenny grew up in central New Jersey and has lived in New York, Vermont, and now Minnesota! They love doing food systems work because food connects everyone. It brings people together whether we’re sharing a meal or working to ensure that the people in our communities have access to a meal.
