FFEN in the Field Updates

While we often share project updates about how our fantastic volunteers are sharing their expertise and skill-sets with food shelf partners; sometimes where FFEN is most needed - is simple yet essential equipment purchases. Let’s see what FFEN has been funding lately!

SEMCAC Preston

A few months ago, we purchased two slanted wire shelving units with clear bins for SEMCAC’s Preston location. These shelving units are easy to clean and are perfect for showcasing fresh produce; which is exactly how they’re using them!

Rock County Food Shelf

In these last few months, we’ve funded a double glass door cooler, a double steel door freezer, as well as a slanted wire shelving unit with clear bins for Rock County. A clear way to merchandise and showcase fresh produce, along with additional freezer and cooler capacity can increase the amount of fresh food items food shelves can source, and therefore, distribute to shoppers!

House of Refuge

A few weeks ago, we purchased 12 shopping carts along with freezer blankets to support House of Refuge’s mass distributions. They are able to serve hundreds of families in a matter of hours. The shopping carts further streamlined their distribution and allowed for a shorter wait time before shopping. The freezer blankets were a critical addition for added food safety.
