Introducing our FFEN in the Field blog: a space for regular updates on a few current food shelf projects. Let's see what FFEN's been up to!
Cansayapi Food Pantry
FFEN has been partnering with Cansayapi Food Pantry since January 2020 to support both food sourcing strategies and the layout design and flow of their new food pantry. Layout design volunteer, Laura Tonietto, shared “I loved hearing feedback that my layout ideas and presentations helped the food shelf better visualize their future space, and that they are ready to move forward with one of the two proposals!”
See Laura’s design below!
Feeding the Dream
FFEN has recently partnered with Feeding the Dream to support their dream of opening a bricks and mortar food shelf in the Frogtown community. Delinia Parris at Feeding the Dream is increasing food access, especially healthy and fresh food access, for the Frogtown community through food distributions (see their flyer below for a Free Farmer’s Market).
We’ll be supporting their work through grant writing services, vetting locations for the food shelf, and eventually layout design and flow of the new food shelf space. We’re excited to continue our work with Delinia, and FFEN is proud to partner with Feeding the Dream and the important work they’re doing!
Salvation Army Hibbing
FFEN is partnering with Salvation Army Hibbing to design a new, client choice layout for their food shelf space. They had planned to start this process in 2020 and FFEN purchased a glass door freezer and cooler for them. However, the pandemic caused them to pause and continue to offer pre-packed boxes for the safety of their volunteers and food shelf shoppers. Now that they have received approval from headquarters to reopen to their clients, they have made the decision to combine their reopening with the shift to client choice.
In addition to layout design options, FFEN will also be providing suggestions on new volunteer roles to support client choice, food shelf shopper flow and merchandising options.
