Call for New FFEN Board Members

Foundation for Essential Needs (FFEN) is a nimble, innovative and entrepreneurial nonprofit investing dollars and practical expertise into improving the financial and operational capacity of Minnesota food shelves. In the rapidly changing hunger relief environment, we offer pragmatic and free assistance to food shelves reinventing themselves to better serve more clients. We operate by building trust-based relationships with local food shelves and support them to incorporate increased business and service best practices in their work.

FFEN often works with food shelves over multiple years. The unduplicated count of food shelves     engaged with FFEN is over 100 shelves – representing 30% of the estimated  325 food shelves in the state.

As the organization moves forward into this next chapter with a clarified vision, mission and role within the Minnesota hunger relief sector as well as increased demand for our services, we are seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors to provide leadership, fresh perspective and energy for the course ahead. Board members are responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to the organization as well as contributing to resource and relationship development for FFEN. FFEN’s Board currently is made up of an engaged group of entrepreneurs and innovators with an array of personal and professional experiences.

To complement these existing members, FFEN is particularly interested in candidates with these qualities:

  • Presence in and/or connections to greater Minnesota communities

  • Ability to see and develop creative partnerships that solve system problems

  • Commitment to increasing client-centered approaches within the hunger relief sector

  • Commitment to connect FFEN’s mission and work with your personal and professional network

  • Specific experience in HR, Legal or Marketing product development or scaling is highly desired.
